National MedSearch or DocWatch.com was founded by a collections
company, Coastal Recovery Services, Inc., that saw the challenge
facing medical offices to collect payment for services rendered.
Collection customers often inquired about ways to identify potential
non-paying patients before providing service. After consulting with
collection and HIPAA attorneys, the project was approved for operation.
Originally the program was designed to assist regional medical
facilities in identifying a risk before becoming a collection problem.

Before accepting a new patient you simply sign on to DocWatch
with your user id and password, then input a patient's
social security number.

is found it will provide you with valuable information
about the patient such as any medical debt owed, the
original amount of the debt and the current amount owed.
